SOUTH EAST CLIMBING COMPETITION 2026
Minimum requirements:
1. Mandatory Qualifications
All climbers must hold valid, industry-recognised certificates of competence. At a minimum, this includes:
CS38 (Unit 206/306): Tree Climbing and Rescue.
Note: Equivalent NPTC or LANTRA Level 2/3 awards are accepted.
2. LOLER Compliance & Equipment
Safety is our priority. All climbing kits will undergo a pre-competition inspection.
LOLER Certification: All equipment must have a current LOLER (Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations) inspection certificate (dated within the last 6 months).
Self-Inspection: Competitors must perform a pre-climb check on all PPE, including harnesses, ropes, friction hitches, and carabiners.
Equipment Standards: All gear must be CE/UKCA marked and fit for purpose. Any gear deemed "retired" or showing excessive wear by the head judge will be disqualified from use.
3. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Competitors will not be permitted to climb without:
Chainsaw Boots: With good grip and ankle support.
Climbing Helmet: Must be within its lifespan (usually 3–5 years) and fitted with a chin strap.
Work Wear: Suitable, snag-resistant clothing appropriate for the weather conditions.
4. Insurance & Liability
Public Liability: While the event carries its own insurance, we strongly recommend that all freelance or self-employed climbers hold their own valid Public Liability Insurance.
Waiver: All participants must sign a standard "Release of Liability" form at the registration desk on the morning of the event.
