Cissbury Estate
Ash Dieback Management: Cissbury Estate, Worthing
We recently completed a comprehensive ash dieback mitigation project at Cissbury in Worthing. Facing a significant infestation of Hymenoscyphus fraxineus (Ash Dieback) across an estate with high levels of public access, the landowner required a swift, professional solution to ensure visitor safety and forest health.
Our Approach
Managing a site of this scale requires precision and the right legislative groundwork. Our team handled the entire process, including:
Licensing: We successfully secured the necessary felling licenses to remove all affected ash trees on-site.
Heavy Duty Execution: Leveraging our high-performance fleet, we deployed:
John Deere 1270E Harvester for efficient, precise felling.
Vosh Grapple Saw for handling complex removals.
John Deere 1210G Forwarder for streamlined timber extraction.
Total Resource Recovery
In line with our commitment to sustainable forestry, we ensured that zero waste was left behind. Every part of the felled trees was processed and repurposed:
Timber: All extracted timber was meticulously graded and separated into firewood and chip logs.
Brash Management: All remaining brash was extracted to a central loading area.
Biomass Production: The brash was chipped on-site to be utilised as high-quality biomass wood chip, providing a renewable energy source and leaving the site clear and safe for the public
